Johnny Williams - Testimony and Bio

Johnny and his wife, Amanda, have been married for 41 years and have four grown married children and eight grandchildren.  In 1992, about a year after the shocking death of his dear brother Barry at age 29, the Lord graciously saved Johnny through the expository preaching of Mike Ross at Trinity PCA in Jackson, Mississippi.

In 2002, Johnny began teaching Shotokan Karate as an outreach ministry of Trinity.  Then in 2010, he left his job of nearly 19 years to start Sons of the King (SOK), a gospel-centered after-school and summer program for at-risk boys.  Johnny began doing jail ministry in 2015 where the Lord gave him a strange and unexpected love for incarcerated men.  Following the COVID shutdown, SOK morphed into a jail and prison ministry.

Upon learning of the full-orbed nature of Metanoia, Johnny and the SOK Board entered into talks with Lowell Ivey in July 2025 which resulted in his being approved as the Regional Director for Mississippi. Along with volunteers, Johnny currently conducts Miami International Seminary, Seminary-in-Prison classes in one Federal and one State institution, along with discipleship Bible study, preaching, and mentoring in four county detention centers.

In 2026, he hopes to build on this existing work by adding correspondence and mentor volunteers while seeking to expand the reach of Metanoia to more institutions in Mississippi. Johnny is a Ruling Elder at Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland, Mississippi where he teaches adult and children’s Sunday school and is involved in Sonbeams, a special-needs ministry.  He also serves on The Presbytery of the Mississippi Valley Discipleship Committee and Mission to the Military Committee.

Johnny is passionate about teaching and preaching, loves to cook, and cherishes time with his kids and grandkids including hunting and fishing with his grandson, Jude.
